Five-day orientation training prog. by Directorate of Economics & Statistics gets underway

     The Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DES), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in collaboration with the National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), has launched a five-day orientation training programme on December 9 at Sri Vijaya Puram for DES officials. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of both newly recruited and in-service officials. A total of 50 officials, comprising of 30 new recruits and 20 experienced professionals from various Departments across the Islands is participating in the programme. The program was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Aman Gupta, IAS, Secretary (Statistics), A&N Administration and Dr. J.S. Tomar, Deputy Director General, NSSTA, MoSPI.
      In his inaugural address, Secretary (Statistics) highlighted the pivotal role of the training in strengthening the statistical framework of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He extended his gratitude to NSSTA for their collaboration and stressed the importance of continued partnership to foster capacity building in the region. He also articulated the need for specialized training in Data Analysis and Research Methodologies to meet evolving demands.
       Dr.Tomar highlighted that the training programme includes comprehensive sessions on topics such as the Indian Statistical System, Price Statistics, SGDP, Practical Applications of R Software and Survey Methodologies. The program, initiated as one of the outputs of the recently concluded Coordination Committee for Statistical Systems (COCSSO), reflects the Government's commitment to building a robust and efficient statistical ecosystem across States/UTs.
    Shri Gaurang Mishra, Director of Economics & Statistics, A&N Administration, expressed his appreciation for this much-needed training initiative. He lauded MoSPI's leadership and vision, which support the broader goal of building a resilient statistical framework to achieve "Viksit Bharat 2047", a press release from Directorate of Economics & Statistics said.
