ANIIDCO organizes Pre - Application Conference for Eco Tourism Resort projects for Holistic Development of the Islands

         A Pre - Application Conference was organized by Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation (ANIIDCO) on 14.07.2021 through video conference which lasted for 2 hours and was attended by 98 participants including Hyatt Hotel, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotel, Grant Thorton, Wyndham Hotel and Resorts, Intercontinental Hotel, Banyan Tree Hotel and resorts, Taj Hotels, Mahindra Holidays, CGH Earth, Krushna Hospitality Services, Indie Hotel, Ramada, Chalet Hotels, Wingspan, Hotel Shardha, Symphony Resorts, Sea Shell Hotel, Sea Bird Resort,  Manjeera Group, 1000 Island Hotel and Resorts, , Fortune In, Asian Hotel North, etc.  Massive response to the Pre - Application Conference is a testimony to the increased interest in the project. ANIIDCO responded to many queries raised by these potential bidders and also suggested them to send e-mail at aniidco@gmail.com for further inputs/clarification in next two days.
     The Andaman & Nicobar Administration in its endeavour for holistic development of A & N Islands had invited RFQ for setting up of Eco Tourism Resorts in Long Island, Aves Island, Smith Island and Shaheed Dweep on PPP basis on 15.06.2021.
     Special efforts were undertaken by ANIIDCO in reaching out to the maximum number of potential bidders and get widespread visibility to the call of bids. In this regard, letters were written to Foreign Embassies in India, Indian Embassies abroad, list of potential bidders based on interest exhibited in the last two attempts of floating the bids. Invest India, unit of Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India has launched a special campaign on twitter towards publicity to the RFQ of the four sites. US Consulate General Office - Chennai and High Commission of Singapore, also extended support in reaching out to potential bidders.
      The brief of proposed eco tourism resorts are as under:
The projects have been envisaged to be developed as self sustainable which includes development of trunk infrastructure like desalination plant, rain water treatment plant, solar power plant, DG set, STP, etc. by the private concessionaire.  
   These projects will be developed as per world class development standards such as GRIHA/LEED/Green Globe and Star Categorization by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
    A & N Administration has already obtained upfront CRZ/Environment/Forest Clearance for the above projects, as applicable, subject to terms & conditions prescribed therein.
    North & Middle Andaman is slated to become most popular destination after Port Blair and Swaraj Dweep with the planned holistic development under the aegis of IDA. The expected completion of the construction of bridges at Kadamtala & Baratang & up-gradation of Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) coupled with the ambitious initiative of Govt. of India for connectivity under UDAN Scheme has added attraction to the proposed projects with estimated project cost of Rs. 700 crores by the investors.    
     Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) and Standing Finance Committee (SFC), Govt. of India had granted in-principle approvals for the projects steered by the Islands Development Agency (IDA) with the support of NITI Aayog.
   Under these projects, 30% of the total personnel employed shall be local residents in the first year of commercial operation, which would gradually increase to 60% by the 5th year. These projects, when completed, will also increase employment in transport, travel & hospitality sectors enormously and open the income generating opportunities to the locals.
   The last date for submission of bids is 25.08.2021. Successful execution of PPP projects in Andaman & Nicobar Islands shall pave the way for the development of tourism in big way and bring A & N Islands conspicuously on the world tourism map. It shall give the initial impetus required to boost overall economic prosperity of the Islands, a press release from Shri Kulanand Joshi, Managing Director, ANIIDCO said.
