DBRAIT team wins Smart India Hackathon-2018 Defeats 43 teams from reputed institutes from across the country

The six member team from DBRAIT has done the Islands proud by winning the Smart India Hackathon 2018, an annual event conducted by AICTE, MHRD, held at Sri Krishna College of Engineering, Coimbatore recently.
The team named as 'RescueTech' comprising of Pawan S. Nair, Amit Roy, K.Vinay Raj of B.Tech CSE III year, C. Raj Kumar of Diploma DCE III year, Dinesh Lal of Diploma DCE II year and Arvind of Diploma Electrical III year was accompanied by Shri Hemant Rao, Technical Staff of Computer Science Department. Altogether 43 teams representing reputed institutes like IIT Roorkie, NIT Raipur, Assam Engg. College, Chennai Institute of Technology, Jeppiaar Engg. College etc. participated in the Hackathon. Earlier, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the participant teams on Mar 30, through video conferencing and stressed that research, innovation and creativity are very essential for governance.
The winner team was awarded cash prize of Rs. 100,000/- by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Team BRAIT took up the issue of 'Mobile App for Shelter & Resource Management during Disaster' having the Offline mode operational feature during disaster besides other key features like SOS, integration of Online & Offline Google maps with muster station indications. The teams were subjected to 36 hours non-stop digital solution development session interspersed with judgment through 4 rounds. Out of the 43 teams competing from the Coimbatore nodal centre, team BRAIT 'RescueTech' emerged as the Winner of SIH 2018.
The AICTE, Chairman, Shri Anil Sahasrabudhe has also congratulated the BRAIT team from Andaman through a message., a communication said.
