A&N Police committed to work for safety & welfare of citizens

    The A&N Police is taking various measures to ensure that safe and pleasant environment prevails in the Islands. As part of this, two police officers with arms are deployed round the clock at different tourist places like Joggers Park, Marina Park and Gandhi Park to prevent any untoward activities in such places. Apart from this, stationing of PCR Vans in front of schools during in and out hours, placing of Beat Constables at various places to interact with senior citizens, PRIs and Councillors are also being done, disclosed the DySP, South Andaman, Shri Ajay Kumar Rai while interacting with media personnel at Aberdeen Police Station this morning. 
   He informed that awareness programmes are being organised in schools & govt. offices on cyber crimes; especially ATM frauds besides, programmes on traffic awareness, de-addiction etc. 
The DySP further stated that interactions with senior citizens are also being held to ensure their wellbeing and interaction with fishermen community from time to time.
   Pertaining to disaster awareness, mock drills are being conducted by the Police Department twice a month, he said adding that the TSET team comprising of personnel from Police, IP&T and PBMC are being deployed for ensuring the safety of tourists as well as the boats. 
   Regarding road side hawkers, he informed that measures have been taken to remove such hawkers to ensure free passage of vehicles while steps will also be taken to ensure disruption free traffic during marriage processions, the DySP added. He further informed that a meeting will soon be held with all stakeholders wherein they will be briefed about steps to be taken 
during immersion of idols as per the Supreme Court guidelines.
