World Tourism Day celebrated at JNRM

    On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2017, a colourful cultural programme was organized by the Department of BBA (Tourism and Travel Management), JNRM in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, A& N Administration at JNRM college auditorium yesterday. The Secretary (Tourism), Shri Ramesh Verma was the chief guest on the occasion while the Principal, JNRM, Dr. N. Francis Xavier was the guest of honour. The Director (Tourism), Shri Amit Anand, stake holders, officials of Directorate of Tourism and staff of JNRM and students were present on the occasion.
   Addressing the gathering, the chief guest emphasised on the issue of sustainability of tourism in the Islands. He said, now a day's the concept of sustainability is applicable in all sectors. "Sustainability of tourism in the Islands can be achieved by respecting nature, culture and the guests", he opined. He further stated that there is ample scope for developing aqua tourism, spice tourism, dairy tourism etc. in the Islands.
    Earlier, in his welcome address, the Principal JNRM laid emphasis on construction of new models of sustainability in the Islands based on reports by expert committees.
     A scintillating cultural programme which included Nepali dance, Nicobari dance, Durgavandana, Punjabi dance, Earth formation theme dance and other free style dances formed part of the celebration.
The chief guest also distributed prizes to the participants of the programmes.
 Shri Krishnamachari, Director, IISD was also present on the occasion.
  The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by proposed by Dr. Rajasekaran, Faculty, Dept. of BBA (Tourism) and the programme was             coordinated by Shri Seemanta Kumar Deka, HOD, Dept. of BBA (Tourism) JNRM.
