International Women's Day celebrated by RD Deptt. Secretary (RD) felicitates 16 Lakhpati Didis across various Blocks

       On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Directorate of Rural Development (RD) held a grand felicitation ceremony to honor the inspiring achievements of 16 Lakhpati Didis from across the Blocks. The event was attended by Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Rural Development and Ms. Sapna Priya, Director (RD). The Lakhpati Didis were felicitated for their hard work, dedication and empowerment in their respective communities. The Lakhpati Didi initiative has been instrumental in recognizing and celebrating the efforts of women who have transformed their lives and communities, achieving financial independence and contributing significantly to local development.
       In his address, the Secretary (RD), commended the efforts of the women for their remarkable achievements and emphasized the Government's continued commitment to supporting women empowerment in all sectors. He remarked that these 16 Lakhpati Didis are shining examples of how women can overcome barriers, create opportunities, and inspire others. 
    Earlier, Smt. Reshma Singh, SPM, ANIRLM welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of empowering women and supporting their journey towards self-reliance. She also highlighted the role of the Directorate in providing resources and creating opportunities for women in rural areas.
     As part of the celebration, a series of exciting and engaging games and competitions were organized by the staff of the Directorate of Rural Development. Women from different parts of the Islands came together to showcase their talents and leadership in a spirit of friendly competition. Among the many activities, traditional Rangoli competitions stood out, fostering both cultural appreciation and a sense of unity among participants.
       The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Bijoy Kumar Das, Extension Officer. This initiative marks a significant step towards recognizing and empowering women across the blocks, providing them with a platform to shine and contribute positively to the development of their communities, a press release from ANIRLM said.
