Training on 'organic farming' held at Calicut village

 The Dept. of Agriculture, South Andaman in association with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) organized a two days training programme on 'Organic farming' at Calicut village recently.  Smti. Ashna Bibi, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Brijgunj who inaugurated the programme appealed the youths to reap the benefits of such training programme organized at village level for self employment by preparing bio-pesticides and promoting organic farming.
    Shri R.Y. Singh, Assistant Director (Agri.), South Andaman emphasized on the importance of soil health management. During the technical session V.K. Pandey, SMS, KVK, Sippighat detailed the scope and benefits of organic farming in Islands ecosystem. The AOs of Agriculture Department, Smt. Shakila Nawaz & Smt. Bindu Raghunath explained about various methods of organic manure production and use of bio-fertilizers while Shri. Thaniarasu, Designated Officer, HVA briefed about various schemes under High Value Agriculture, a communication said.
