Cabinet clears National Offshore Wind Energy Policy

The Cabinet cleared National Offshore Wind Energy Policy for use of offshore areas within Exclusive Economic Zone, EEZ, of the country. The National Institute of Wind Energy will be nodal agency for allocation of offshore Wind Energy blocks. The approval will pave the way for offshore wind power projects upto seaward distance of 200 nautical miles. The Cabinet also approved spectrum trading based on TRAI's recommendations for harmonious spread of telecom services in the country. The Cabinet cleared FDI up to 100 per cent under automatic route for White Label ATM Operations to give fillip to government's financial inclusion efforts including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
