PM's maiden visit to Bihar from today; to launch Gram Jyoti Yojna in Patna

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be on a day visit to Bihar tomorrow. This is his first visit to the state after becoming Prime Minister. He will participate in several programmes in Patna and address a Parivartan rally at Muzaffarpur.

Soon after arrival at Patna, Prime Minister will inaugurate the NDA government's ambitious Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramjyoti Yojana for rural empowerment besides participating in the foundation day function of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR).

Prime Minister will dedicate permanent campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Patna to the nation. Under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramjyoti Yojana, there are projects of Rs 76,000 crore out of which subsidy of Rs 63,000 crore will be given by Central government. The Centre has approved a grant of Rs 8,000 crore for the projects in Bihar. Under this scheme, the elements of agricultural and nonagricultural feeders would be separated to restore power units in rural areas. Through this scheme, the Centre aims at providing uninterrupted electricity supply to each household across the nation by 2022.

Shri Modi will also lay foundation of the first phase of the much awaited Jagdishpur-Haldia Gas pipeline project, the process of supplying LPG through pipeline network would begin. Petroleum Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said in four years LPG customers in Patna would start getting gas in their homes through the pipeline.

Prime Minister will inaugurate Daniawa-Bihar Sharief new rail line. The distance between Patna and Rajgir will be reduced by 12 kilometres after this rail line. The Prime Minister will flag off Patna-Mumbai airconditioned Suvidha Express and Rajgir-Bihar Sharief - Daniawa - Fatuha passenger train.
