Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars undertakes two-day visit to Nancowry Sub-Division Reiterates Administration's commitment to inclusive & sustained development

Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, undertook a two-day visit to the Nancowry Subdivision on April 16 and 17, 2025. The visit included inspections of various Island villages including Kamorta, Hitui, and Champin in Nancowry, as well as Meenakshi Ram Nagar (MRN), E-Wall, and Mildera in Katchal.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner issued directions to the concerned Departments for carrying out essential works such as the repair and installation of street lights, upgradation of power infrastructure, maintenance of roads and footpaths, repair of Anganwadi Centres, and creation of additional water storage infrastructure to meet local demands.
At the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kamorta, and the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Katchal, he reviewed the availability and functionality of basic amenities and instructed officials to ensure seamless services to the public. He further directed APWD to expedite and complete the ongoing repair works at CHC, Kamorta. Shri Kale also visited Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Kapanga in Katchal, where he interacted with students.
The visit follows closely after the recent tour of the region by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. As part of his itinerary, the Deputy Commissioner held meetings with Chiefs and Captains of the Tribal Councils and Heads of Offices from various Departments. The meetings focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing developmental initiatives and addressing public grievances.
Shri Amit Kale emphasized the importance of swift resolution of issues raised during the Chief Secretary's visit and directed all Departments to treat them with priority. He reiterated the Administration's commitment to the inclusive and sustained development of the Nancowry Sub-Division.
