Indemnity to all beneficiaries of sterilization, doctors & health facilities through Family Planning Indemnity Scheme

       The Government of India introduced the National Family Planning Insurance Scheme which was later modified as Family Planning Indemnity Scheme (FPIS), now operational through State NHM Program Implementation Plan instead of private sector insurance company. The objective of the Family Planning Indemnity Scheme is to indemnify all beneficiaries of sterilization, doctors and health facilities (public and accredited private/NGO) conducting sterilization operation in the unlikely event of death/ failure/complication following sterilization operation.
     Recently, in compliance to the directives of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India with respect to doubling of compensation under Family Planning Indemnity Scheme (FPIS) and to share the burden thereof equally by the Govt. of India and the respective State Government, the UT Administration of A&N Islands has notified the doubling of ex-compensation fixed under Family Planning Indemnity Scheme under Section 1 (A-D) which has come into effect from October 15, 2020.
