Ensuring scientific management of solid & liquid waste

    The Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman District, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, today inaugurated Solid Waste Management Clusters at Madhupur, Radhanagar and Keralapuram Gram Panchayats in Diglipur Tehsil in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Diglipur, Shri Ankit Yadav and BDO Diglipur, Shri. Rajendra Kumar. The clusters will ensure scientific management of solid and liquid waste under Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin's Phase II - Open Defection Free Plus program. Given that the Gram Panchayats in the Tehsil have already commenced source segregation both at household level and at market places, the Solid Waste Management Clusters will give an impetus to scientific waste management.
    In her address, the Deputy Commissioner stated that SLWM comprises a chain of things like segregation of waste at source, its collection & transportation, treatment, recycle, reuse and disposal of waste. The objective of Solid Waste Management (SWM) is to control, collect, process, utilize and dispose of solid wastes in an economical way, focusing on public health safety, a press release from Assistant Commissioner (Diglipur) said.
