Harnessing fisheries potential through implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in Isles

       Fisheries and aquaculture are important source of food, nutrition, employment and income in India. It provides livelihood to millions of fishers and fish farmers at primary level and twice the number along the value chain. Foreseeing the immense potential to enhance income and usher in economic prosperity for the fishers/fish farmers and other stakeholders and for providing focus attention to the sector, the Government of India has launched a scheme- 'Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)- to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India' with a total investment of Rs. 20050 Crores with a vision to enhance fish production and productivity in all the States and Union Territories (UTs).
