Nicobar District Administration conducts cleanliness campaign titled 'Clean Nicobar, Green Nicobar'

The Nicobar District Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (Nicobar), Shri Amit Kale, IAS, has launched a transformative cleanliness campaign named 'Clean Nicobar, Green Nicobar'. The drive, conducted under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), commenced on 15th January and will continue till 25th January, 2025.
This comprehensive initiative has brought together all the stakeholders across the district in a collective effort to enhance sanitation and environmental sustainability. In collaboration with all Departments, Tribal Councils, Gram Sabhas, and private vendors, the campaign seeks to reinforce the importance of cleanliness as a cornerstone for a healthier and greener Nicobar.
All Government Departments have actively participated in this drive, organizing cleanliness campaigns in their respective jurisdictions. Special focus has been placed on public spaces such as markets, where private vendors have joined hands with the Administration to ensure garbage-free zones.
Speaking on the initiative, Shri Amit Kale, IAS emphasized, "Cleanliness is not just about maintaining hygiene but also about fostering a sense of pride and responsibility in our communities. With the involvement of all stakeholders, we are creating a sustainable model of community-driven cleanliness."
The participation of various stakeholders has turned this drive into a movement, highlighting the collective determination of the people of Nicobar to protect their unique environment.
