Construction work of 'Marine Esplanade' begins

    The construction work of 'Marine Esplanade', one of the signature projects proposed under Smart City Mission has started. Under the project, the entire coastal stretch from Marina Park to Flag Point will be developed in phases which include restructuring of coastal road. The length of the road would be 1.495 kms and the estimated cost of the project cost is Rs.9.92 Cr.
     The development includes revitalization of water front with access to water at suitable locations, encouraging pedestrian activity with exclusive walking track of 4 mtrs. towards the sea with viewing decks, look out space/vantage points, sitting deck, with landscaping and state of art lighting with street furnitures/benches inside Marina Park. The work for the project inside the Park has commenced. The coming of this project will improve the leisure spaces for citizens to enjoy the sea front and also attract both national and international tourists.
   Apart from this, to enhance the sea front recreational activities, retail and food kiosks on land side at various locations and angling points along the coast are also proposed.
