Chief Secretary holds meeting with Adhyaksha, ZPSA Stresses on need to promote rural tourism by constructing eco tourism huts in beaches

     The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain today held a meeting with Adhyaksha, ZPSA, Smti. Pramila Kumari, Up-Adhyaksh and two members of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman in the conference hall of Secretariat. 
       During the meeting, the Chief Secretary highlighted on the need to develop tourism infrastructure to promote rural tourism by constructing eco tourism huts in beaches and for which, Forest Department will give permission to carry out the construction of the huts. To promote natural beauty of the Islands, the Chief Secretary directed that beach festivals may be organized at beaches in all the villages in South Andaman, emphasizing on authentic cuisines of the community residing in such villages coupled with music. This, he said, will immensely boost tourism and help promote the rural beauty of the villages and beaches whilst providing income generating employment for the rural masses. 
     The Chief Secretary during the interaction stressed on the need to create awareness on water conservation by encouraging residents to set up rain water harvesting system in their respective homes. He also requested the members to plant more fruit bearing trees and vegetables in vacant Govt. land and road sides, to achieve food security. The Chief Secretary stated that Forest Department will provide training to the villagers on seed preservation and also collect seeds preserved by villagers as part of 'Save Seeds and Plant Trees' campaign. 
    To beautify the surroundings, the Chief Secretary desired that flowering plants such as mussaenda be planted along the road sides.  
  The Adhyaksha , ZPSA also highlighted various issues pertaining to Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
