Special drive against COVID-19 carried out by N&M Andaman District Administration

    The North & Middle Andaman District Administration is on high alert and is careful in the wake of COVID-19 and Omicron variant threat. In pursuance of the national directives, a pre-emptive, proactive and collective approach is being adopted in the district to limit Corona infection. In a special drive conducted on the auspicious occasion of Pongal/ Makar Sankranti, random testing were carried out in the bazaar areas of Mayabunder, Mohanpur and Billiground, especially targeting the shopkeepers, to check for any instances of transmission or outbreak of the virus among them. All the samples from Mayabunder were tested negative. Only 3 out of 100 samples collected were tested RAT positive in other areas and suitable action for their isolation and treatment has been undertaken.
    Apart from this, tracking and tracing teams have also been activated so that all cases are timely and efficiently managed in the District. Surveillance teams and Control Rooms are monitoring the situation so that ILI/SARI cases are detected promptly.
     Meanwhile, in the continued enforcement efforts, almost 300 people have been challaned in the District in the last 10 days for not adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour.
