Hard work, determination, and the right support can transform lives, and Smti Bibha Sarkar is a shining example of this. A dedicated member of the Joy Self-Help Group (SHG) in Nimbutala Gram Panchayat, she has successfully expanded her poultry farming business with the assistance provided under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
In December 2022, Smti Bibha Sarkar joined the Joy SHG with the dream of becoming financially independent. With an SHG loan of Rs. 70,000 and 50 birds, she took her first step into poultry farming. Though the initial phase came with challenges, her commitment and relentless efforts bore fruit, as she soon began earning a steady income.
Encouraged by her initial success, she aspired to scale up her business. Understanding her potential, the Dweep Sakhi Block Level Federation extended further financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakh in November last year  under DAY-NRLM. With this support, she expanded her poultry stock, improved farm infrastructure, and ensured better facilities for her growing business.
Shri Pradeep Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer, CD Block, Rangat, officially inaugurated her expanded poultry farm recently. The event was graced by SHG members, Extension Officers, Cluster Coordinators, and Community Resource Persons (CRPs), all celebrating her remarkable journey.
Smti Bibha Sarkar's transformation into a 'Lakhpati Didi' is a testament to the power of women's entrepreneurship. Her journey highlights the impact of NRLM in fostering financial independence among rural women. Through effective guidance from the District Administration, N&MA, and the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, many women like her are being empowered to build successful businesses.
Her story stands as a beacon of hope, proving that with perseverance, determination, and the right support, rural women can achieve financial independence and create a better future for themselves and their families, a press release received here said.
