CS chairs meeting on development of coconut based industries in A & N Islands

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar in the conference hall of Industries Department here this evening to discuss the development of coconut based industries & enterprises in A & N Islands. A number of issues were discussed during this meeting, which was also attended by the Secretary, Cooperatives, Shri Ramesh Verma, Secretary Industries, Smti Rashmi Singh besides other stakeholders. 

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed for establishment of incubator at CIARI, Port Blair, under a scheme of Ministry of Food Processing Industry, which will act as Common Facility Centre. He also asked for setting up of pilot project in value addition in coconut based products at Car Nicobar for which logistics support, including land will be provided by EHL, under the scheme of Coconut Development Board.

It was also decided that interested entrepreneurs shall be deputed to mainland for advanced and quality training at reputed institutions like IICPT, CFTRI and CDB etc.

  The Director i/c, Coconut Development Board, Chennai, Smti. Balasudhahari, agreed to extend full support in the area of technology transfer, marketing, training etc.
