Constitution Day observed in Isles LG reads out Preamble of Indian Constitution

As part of the observance of 'Constitution Day', Prof. Jadish Mukhi, the Lt Governor of A&N Islands read out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution to all the officers and staff of LG's Secretariat at Raj Niwas today. The Member of Parliament, Shri B.P Ray was also present on the occasion.
It was on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution, however, it came into force a year later. The government had last year, decided to observe 26th November as Constitution Day to honour the Indian Constitution and its promulgation. The day is celebrated to value and preserve the rich heritage of composite culture and to develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform. The day is also observed to promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all countrymen and to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women.
