Govt to consider CBSE recommendation for making board exams mandatory for Class X: HRD Minister

Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar today said that the government will duly consider the recommendation of Central Board Secondary Examination, CBSE for making Class 10th Board Examination compulsory from 2018.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Shri Javadekar said, after completing the due process, the final order in this regard will be issued. He said, out of two crore students who appeared in the various boards' exam, only seven lakh students do not sit in the exam. He said, in view of situation, there was a demand from various quarters for making the board exam compulsory and government's wants to do it.
Shri Javadekar also clarified that there has been no change in the existing patterns of board exam for 2017 but from 2018 every student will have to appear in 10th board exam. In reply to a question about the language formula, Shri Javadekar said, the government is not imposing any language but it wants the people to learn more and more languages.
