Nation pays homage to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary

The nation paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary today. He was assassinated on this day in 1948. President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid tributes to the Father of the Nation at Rajghat in New Delhi this morning.
Earlier in a tweet, President Shri Kovind said, the nation gratefully remembers Mahatma Gandhi and the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for Independence.
Vice President Shri Naidu said, Mahatma Gandhi was a true apostle of peace and non-violence and his life and message must continue to inspire every Indian. Prime Minister Shri Modi said, the nation bows to all the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the service of the nation. He said, the people will always remember their courage and dedication.
