CEO A&N Islands chairs meeting on National Voters' Day celebration in Isles

     A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri K R Meena today in the conference hall of Secretariat to discuss and finalize various activities to be carried out in connection with the celebration of 11th National Voters' Day on Jan. 25, 2021. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Suneel Anchipaka and joined by Deputy Commissioner (N&M Andaman), Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan and Assistant Commissioner (Car Nicobar) through video conference besides  Secretary (Social Welfare), Shri S K Jha, Secretary (IT), Dr. Pooja Joshi, Joint CEO, Shri R C Meena, ERO, Shri Yash Chaudhary, Deputy CEO, Shri Kamlesh Kumar and representatives from other Departments.
     Addressing the gathering, the CEO informed about the directions issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the celebration of 11th National Voters' Day in State/UT level. He said, due to COVID-19, this time, ECI is focusing more on digital/ electronic mode of awareness/celebration while the activities will remain the same. During the meeting, it was discussed to popularize the new technological tools viz. launch of e-EPIC, posting innovations on social media platforms through use of Hashtags & tagging the Commission's official social media handles by State Icons, Educational Institutions, CSO etc. The CEO also highlighted the need to plan comprehensive communication campaign using electronic, digital and social media along with usage of messaging Apps, inter-personal communication and outreach programmes besides online workshop for content creators to orient, strategize and capture the key aspects of National Voters' Day- 2021.
       The CEO further stressed on the need to popularize the Commission's electronic efforts by using media and other IT tools for wide publicity of various interventions, conduct of SVEEP activities at Booth, District & State level as per COVID-19 social distancing norms. Facilities like Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System(ETPBS), screening of Service Voter Film in Cantonment areas on Jan. 15, 2021, popularization of Voters' Helpline, Voters' Portal, PwD App through credible CSOs and spreading awareness on Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF)& postal ballot provisions for senior citizens &PwDs. It was also emphasized to create awareness among youth for active participation through competitions. Women participation through setting up of special registration desk for women electors at polling station was also discussed besides awareness activities with Electoral Literacy Clubs and Voter Awareness Forums through online sessions among others.
      During the meeting, as suggested by the Deputy Commissioners of the respective Districts, it was decided to celebrate National Voters Day programme through physical mode with small gatherings adhering to social distancing and other safety measures.
