Police refutes news item published in local daily

The A&N Police has refuted a news item published in a local daily regarding beating up of a person by Police at Kadamtala. Clarifying the issue, the Superintendent of Police (HQ), in a press release received here today, said that on Apr 15, 2016, a case of vehicle burning was registered at PS Kadamtala against 6 suspected persons of Kadamtala. During the course of investigation, the suspects were interviewed. In order to verify about the role of suspects, one more person was called at PS Kadamtala and after recording his statement he left the PS. 
 In the meantime, some anti-social elements including the suspects of the above vehicle burnt case approached him and instigated him to raise allegation against the Police of beating. On the next day i.e. on Apr 24, 2016, they managed to gather around 13-14 persons including the suspected persons of the above referred case and went near the residential quarter of Medical Officer, PHC Kadamtala and shouted abusive slogans and threatened the Medical Officer with intend to deter her from duty and put pressure on her to admit the above person. On the basis of the written complaint of the Medical Officer an NCFIR vide No.10/16 dated 24.04.2016 U/s 189/34 IPC has been chalked out at PS Kadamtala against all of them. 
   Thereafter, on the same day in the evening at 1845 hrs again the above said group restrained the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kadamtala wrongfully and assaulted him while he was proceeding to market and threatened him to dire consequences. On the basis his complaint, a case vide crime no.16/16 dated 24.04.2016 U/s 147/149/341/506 IPC has been registered against 7 persons at PS Kadamtala. Thereafter, on apprehension of breach of peace and tranquility after their release, the above 7 persons were again arrested U/s 107/151 Cr. PC and produced before the SDM where they have executed bond for a period 1 year for maintaining good behavior, the release added. 
The SP, in the release, has further mentioned that most of the persons are suspects in the fire incident case and their ulterior motive is to malign the image of Pradhan and to distract the mind of Police from the investigation of the vehicle burnt case. The allegation leveled against Police is totally baseless, concocted and motivated, he added.
